Counting What Counts:
Assessments that Matter for At-Risk Students
- Research and Tools from the Field -
Whether you are a teacher, administrator, counselor, student, concerned citizen or policy maker, the information on this site should inspire and inform you about four schools that are making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth. The included student survey tool will allow you to assess how students' attitudes, behaviors and accomplishments are effected by the services and culture provided by your school.
Amesbury Academy Charter Public School, Boston Day and Evening Academy, and Lowell Middlesex Academy have worked together over the past few years to address common challenges they face in serving an at-risk population, and to celebrate and share their accomplishments in supporting these students. The data and student survey tool help the schools to make better judgments about how to allocate resources where they will matter most to students' education, especially those who have dropped out or are at most risk of dropping out of school.
This consortium of schools and project has been facilitated by the Project for School Innovation. Research and analysis has been overseen by Professor Michael Nakkula of Harvard Graduate School of Education. If you would be interested in hosting a presentation by the leaders of the four involved schools, please contact PSI at rfeldman@psinnovation.org.
Disclaimer: This is a work in progress as we strive to provide a student survey, administration manual and findings that are most relevant. For questions, requests or to find the most updated tools and reports please refer to www.psinnovation.org
