California Charter Summit Conference
Communicate - Collaborate - Coexist was the theme of the summit recently held by the Santa Clara County Office of Education, where PSI was asked to present a workshop. As conveyed by the organizers, PSI exemplifies the summit's goals of sharing information and practices between district and charter schools. The workshop presentation by Executive Director Ruth Feldman focused on Next Steps, and her slides can be found HERE.
Russlynn Ali of the U.S. Department of Education was the keynote speaker at the Summit, which was held to address the rapid growth of charter schools in Santa Clara County, and concerns about their effects on neighborhood public schools.
Summit participants attended breakout sessions focusing on identifying strategies to help charter schools and school districts work together to help further student achievement. They also watched a video that featured twelve different county schools, both charter and traditional, and the methods they employ to help their students achieve extraordinary results.
