Black Male Youth Lecture Series
In 2007-08 PSI collaborated with Wheelock College and the Delores Walker Johnson Center for Thoughtful Leadership at ATLAS Learning Communities
to document the five-part lecture series The
Education of Black Male Youth:
Understanding the Social, Emotional, and
Learning Lives of Black Male Students.
Understanding the Social, Emotional, and
Learning Lives of Black Male Students.
These
lectures built on PSI’s documentation of the 2007 conference A Gathering of Leaders: A Contemplation on
the Education of Black Male Students, which convened 30 leaders from
single-gender schools for African American boys in order to create a national
network focused on the pressing challenges facing boys of color in American
schools.
Each of
the lectures featured a presentation from a leading practitioner or researcher
revolving around the education of black male youth in the
